Green screen initiative for londons film and television industries
Film London and environmental sustainability specialists Greenshoot have partnered to develop a platform to support production industries become more environmentally sustainable. Green Screen aims to help users cut carbon, reduce waste and support sustainable practices while also helping productions to save money. The model was successfully piloted on a range of different productions; The Crown (Netflix), Free Fire (Rook Films) and City of Tiny Lights (BBC Films). Film London is now encouraging productions including feature films, television programs, documentaries and commercials to sign up to the initiative. Encouragingly, Left Bank Pictures producers of Wallander has confirmed that all their television productions will seek Green Screen certification.
Green Screen provides an interactive step-by-step guide through the production process to help users achieve environmental targets. The end results are then submitted for the production to receive the green audit and be awarded an official Green Screen Stamp.
